Join us for a full day discussing the state-of-the-art of fish tagging. Involving a mix of formal presentations and direct audience discussion, this workshop will take a deep dive into the latest advancements in tagging technology, best practice techniques, and the crucial aspects of animal welfare.

Find out about the latest tagging techniques for finfish and cephalopod species, as representatives from leading tag companies, headlined by Innovasea, showcase their newest technology. Learn all about proper use to achieve your study outcomes whilst maintaining optimal animal welfare. Benefit from the expertise of IMOS researchers as they discuss the use of acoustic tagging tools and databases and hear from seasoned DPI fish and shark tagging experts sharing their secrets for maximising the outcomes of tagging programs.

Engage in valuable discussions with past and current Animal Ethics Committee members and veterinarians specialising in aquatic animal welfare, sharing their perspectives in the appropriate use of analgesia and anaesthetics. Headlined by Dr Rob Jones, known for his consultancy in the aquarium industry, and Dr Justin Clarke, a seasoned wildlife vet and animal welfare officer. Rest assured we won’t shy away from robust discussion, navigating the often complex and sometimes controversial regulatory world of ethical animal research.

Capped off with full catering, the workshop offers a blend of learning, networking, and discussion at incredible value. For those staying on for ASFB 2024 our workshop will wrap up in plenty of time for you to head over to the opening reception to link up with colleagues and friends to keep the discussion going.
